Carnes - 70th CARNES - BOULET August 4, 1945 Last evening the exchange of marriage vows between Alphonsine Bernadette, second daughter of Mrs. Mary Boulet, Lake Cowichan, B.C., and Stoker Petty Officer William George Carnes, R.C.N., only son of Mrs. Bessie Carnes, Vancouver, and Mr. D. J. Carnes, Ocean Falls, B.C., was solemnized by His Excellency John C. Cody, Bishop of Victoria, at St. Andrew's Cathedral. Miss Marguerite McKay presided at the organ and during the signing of the register Mrs. G. L. V. Smith sang "Ave Maria." The bride, in a gown fashioned with lime metallic cloth bodice and white net bouffant skirt, and finished with off-the-shoulder neckline with net yoke, was given away by her eldest brother, S.P.O. Thomas Boulet, R.C.N.V.R. From a coronet of white lace her embroidered veil cascaded to the floor. She wore long metallic cloth gloves and carried a shower bouquet of butterfly roses and gardenias centered with orchids. The bride was attended by her three sisters: Mrs. J. D. Scott, Vancouver, in pale blue net, as Miss Betty Boulet, the bridesmaids, matron of honor; Miss Rosaline and in white sheer frocks. Mrs. Scott wore a juliet cap and sweetheart veil to match her dress and carried a corsage bouquet of pink carnations and white gladioli. The bridesmaids had mauve and pink headdresses, respectively, and carried arm bouquets of pink carnations and gadioli. Stoker Ernest Boulet, R.C.N.V.R., brother of the bride, supported the groom, and Stoker Cal Jackson, R.C.N.V.R., ushered. Following the ceremony Mrs. Boulet and Mrs. Carnes assisted the young couple in receiving at a reception held at the Kit Kat. Mr. D. K. Kennedy proposed the toast to the bride. S.P.O. and Mrs. Carnes will live at 417 Simcoe Street after a honeymoon on the Mainland. For travelling the bride chose a dusty pink suit with navy blue hat and accessories, and a mauve orchid corsage bouquet. Congratulations from your rotten children!
